Minnesota legislator wants feds to investigate fraud, says MN gov’t is a ‘racketeering operation’

Rep. Walter Hudson wants "federal authorities to come down here and make Minnesota their vacation home and apply all their resources to rooting this corruption out."

Rep. Walter Hudson, R-Albertville, joined Liz Collin on her podcast. He is a member of the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Policy Committee and spoke about the massive amount of fraud in Minnesota.

Rep. Hudson explained more about a bold claim he made on social media: there is a “racketeering enterprise” at work in Minnesota—one that’s been effectively paying people off for their loyalty to the DFL, the Democratic Party of Minnesota.

“I am personally convinced of it, which is a distinction from being able to prove it. I think the necessity to have all the t’s crossed and all the i’s dotted before raising credible suspicion that that is in fact what’s going on is not necessary. We need to apply a certain degree of logic and reason and abide by our ‘lying eyes’ and recognize that there are certain patterns here that make it very clear that there’s something insidious going on,” Hudson said.

Hudson also responded to the announcement made by Acting U.S. Attorney, Joe Thompson on Sept. 18. Thompson announced eight indictments connected to Minnesota’s Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program. But Thompson also revealed that basically the entire HSS program is fraud.

“That’s what Thompson said … all of our waiver programs are essentially fraud programs. That’s how he described them, that they are programs that function to produce fraud,” Hudson explained.

After talking about how money is being taken out of taxpayers’ pockets and going to bad actors, “who are using our state’s benevolence in order to enrich themselves,” Hudson posed a key question: “how does that happen?”

He also questioned the launch of the HSS program. “On day one, you’ve got hundreds of people immediately filing business filings and getting leases where there’s a dozen of them in the same building. And they’re just all committed to being fake organizations that don’t actually do anything for anyone, but just bill the state. You are asking me to suspend all disbelief, to accept the premise that this is all just one giant coincidence,” Hudson said.

Minnesota: a vacation home paradise for federal prosecutors

Collin pointed out how Hudson wasn’t just talking about fraud in Minnesota, but trying to do something about it, and how Hudson called on U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to take action. Hudson said Bondi should buy a second residence in Minnesota because she would “never run out of people to prosecute” here.

There were also other measures to stop fraud that Hudson encouraged.

“Every single one of these programs should be immediately and indefinitely shut down. That’s how you turn off the hose. And then in terms of prosecution, we may not be able to catch everybody, but boy, oh boy, we better be going after the big actors, the people who enabled it, the people who most directly benefited from it,” Hudson said.

He also made a clear distinction: “And by benefit, I don’t just necessarily mean the people who got the money. I mean who I suspect has been coordinating this … and the political apparatus that has benefited from it.”

Fraud in Minnesota and the Democratic Party

With regard to the connection between fraud and the Minnesota Democratic Party, Hudson did not mince words.

“It is unquestionable that the Democrat Party and their candidates have benefited from this fraud. Who do you think these people are voting for? Who do you think they’re contributing to in terms of political campaigns? The Democrat Party in the state of Minnesota has benefited directly from this fraud,” Hudson said.

Hudson went on to explain why the bad actors and important questions are “not going to be investigated by anybody with any position of authority in the state of Minnesota because Minnesota is overwhelmingly controlled by Democrats.”

“And so that’s why I call upon Pam Bondi and federal authorities to come down here and make Minnesota their vacation home and apply all their resources to rooting this corruption out, pursuing answers to the tough questions, doing a little ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ensuring that even though we’re never going to get total accountability and total justice, because Thompson told us that yesterday, we can at least go after the worst and most insidious actors,” Hudson said.
