Tucker Carlson interviewed Alpha News senior reporter Liz Collin—who Carlson called “one of the last objective reporters in Minneapolis.”
During the episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson and Collin discussed the current state of affairs in Minnesota, focusing on the aftermath of George Floyd since 2020, and more recently, the murderous rampage of alleged political assassin Vance Boelter, which tragically took place less than two weeks before the interview.
The case of Vance Boelter: political assassin
In reviewing the horrific acts for which Boelter has been arrested, Carlson and Collin talked about how the tragedies unfolded and some of the peculiarities, including how Boelter fled the scene, how Boelter eluded law enforcement for nearly 48 hours, going to and from a residence where he rented a room, to how he was ultimately captured near his more permanent home in Green Isle, Minn.
Even before Collin explained many of the strange details, Carlson remarked, “Wow, this is an even weirder story than I realized.” Carlson and Collin discussed Boelter’s background and the reported contents of his confession letter.
They also discussed how politics—and even just talking about politics in Minnesota—have changed in the past several years.
Collin explained how “political disagreements have turned into these political attacks, and people have allowed this to happen.”
Carlson agreed, but also placed the blame a bit more clearly: “It’s passive Scandinavians. I know them well. I hate them. Sorry, excuse me. I’m one of them,” he said among one of the many light-hearted moments during the nearly hour-and-a-half interview.
The aftermath of George Floyd in Minneapolis and beyond
Turning toward the arrest and heart attack of George Floyd, Collin explained how Minnesota “had the perfect players in place. Again, we have Gov. Tim Walz. We have Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. This was an election year that had so much to do with it. And you could see these things were happening around the country, you know, just looking to spark chaos. And in Minneapolis, they had the recipe. And I saw the manipulation day one.”
During the conversation, Carlson and Collin discussed not only politicians, but also the role of the media in manipulating the facts involved in the George Floyd incident and the trial of former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin.
They also discussed several aspects of The Fall of Minneapolis, the documentary presented by Alpha News and produced by Collin.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and China
The two wrapped up their conversation discussing the connections between Gov. Walz and China—and the connections between Walz and the media in Minnesota.
Carlson also pointed out the importance of Collin’s journalism and the role of Alpha News.
“Media’s died across the country. Newspapers are going out of business. They’re useless. Local news basically gone. And the hope was always that there would be responsible people who cared about facts reporting on what’s happening at the state level and in cities. And in most places, that’s not true, but it is true in Minnesota, thanks to you,” Carlson said.
