A member of the Minneapolis Bloods street gang has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for illegally possessing several firearms, U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger announced last week.

Court documents in the case state that in November 2021, Obuatawan Leon Holt, aka “Bone,” was found in possession of four firearms following the execution of a search warrant at Holt’s residence by the Minneapolis Police Department as part of a firearms investigation. The search came three months after Holt’s prior term of federal supervised release expired in a prior gang related drug and weapons conspiracy case. The documents state that Holt, 48, is a known member and associate of the Minneapolis Bloods street gang.

Holt is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to several prior felony convictions involving controlled substances, including a federal drug trafficking conviction.

Holt pleaded guilty in February to one count of possession of a firearm as a felon. He was sentenced last week to 46 months in prison, which will be followed by three years of supervised release. Federal inmates must serve a minimum of 85% of their sentence incarcerated before being eligible for release.

The case was the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Minnesota Department of Corrections, and the Minneapolis Police Department.
