John Nagel, a Republican who is running against Rep. Ilhan Omar for the U.S. House in Minnesota’s Fifth District, said the incumbent congresswoman is the “most anti-American person” he’s ever come across.
WATCH:
On Columbus Day, federal authorities raided Omar’s home in Washington, D.C. Department of Homeland Security agents were leading the raid, and sources have told Alpha News this is about her immigration and citizenship status — a different issue, it seems, than the allegations that Omar married her brother.
As a former field lieutenant with the Minnesota State Patrol having retired after a 30-year career in law enforcement, Nagel pointed to a key part of the investigation.
“My first reaction is that it was a Democratic judge that OK’d this. So we can’t say that it’s a political hit. There had to have been enough criminal evidence for them to even do that,” Nagel said on Liz Collin Reports.
“If I were Ilhan Omar … I would want this investigated, cleared up, and then move on. However, they’re not doing that. And that to me says a lot because if you’re not willing to have people go into your past, there must be something there,” Nagel said.
However, Nagel acknowledged that despite the controversies involving Omar, he’s running in a district which is ranked as one of the most Democratic districts in the country. The district includes Minneapolis, Brooklyn Center, Richfield, and St. Louis Park.
Collin asked Nagel about what he’s been hearing from voters while campaigning — and if they’re fed up with the billions of dollars in fraud, the Somali gang shootings, and the smashed car windows that stretch for blocks.
“Just about everything that you said, people have brought up to me. I was out door-knocking the other day, and people that have voted Democrat in the past have come out and said, ‘I’m gonna vote for you,'” Nagel replied.
“They’re tired of being lied to, they are tired of their taxes going up. I’ve had several people look at me and go, ‘We’re one more tax increase away from losing our home.’ And that needs to stop,” Nagel said.
“Ilhan Omar is supposed to be representing about 700,000 people in District Five. And it seems like she only represents Minneapolis and that needs to change,” he added.
Nagel also shared a point about party politics: “I wish people would quit saying Democrat and Republican. I wish they’d just say Minnesotan.”
“I don’t think the Democrats, the old fashioned Minnesota Democrats — the Hubert Humphreys and the people like Rudy Perpich — those people are rolling in their graves right now,” Nagel said.
“The only people that really like her are the Democratic Socialists. And, you know, I don’t know why we don’t just call her a communist,” Nagel added.
He then highlighted another distinction between himself and Omar: “I’m the only one from Minnesota.”
“I was born here, raised here, bought my grandfather’s house in St. Louis Park, went to college here, got married here, and raised my children here. I mean, this is my home,” Nagel said.
“I think that’s the really big difference. This is my home — and it’s not her home. I love my country. I love Minnesota. I’ve got a brand new grandbaby. She’s 14 months and I’m not gonna leave this mess to her and my children,” he added.
In speaking about his commitment to serving others, Nagel explained that, “When you become a police officer, we take an oath and that oath doesn’t expire the day you retire, you still want to protect and serve, and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

“I’m trying to protect the people of Minnesota and again, there are all these allegations. You know, that old saying, you know, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Man, [Omar’s] got a lot of smoke hanging over her head right now,” Nagel added.
He also said that Omar refuses to debate.
“We’ve reached out a couple of times and we’re not getting any kind of a response, which doesn’t surprise me. I mean, I don’t think she’s had a debate with anybody that’s run against her and that’s because she doesn’t have any answers,” Nagel said.
“She is the most anti-American person that I’ve ever met in my entire life,” he continued. “I can’t believe that somebody like this was elected to represent Minnesota of all places. How did this happen?”
